And no, it’s not because I can’t sing. I can’t sing good, but I can surely sing a national anthem.
Sooo, this imposes a rather interesting problem. February 8 is our third year anniversary here in Canada, and my mom will submit applications for citizenship the day after. The applications don’t get processed that quickly probably because of the number of immigrants living in the country. We have to answer a test about Canada (my parents are actually forreals studying, no surprise seeing as the application fee costs $100) and obviously sing the anthem of our new country. Yay!
I have nothing against Canada, nothing at all. It’s mostly a personal matter, but I cannot bring myself to sing the Oh Canada. If we compare this to a relationship, let’s just say I’m not ready to say “I love you” even though I am completely in love and definitely want a commitment. Yeap, I think that sums it up.
So what will I do? I think I’ll try to get to know Canada on a whole different level. One of the things I love the most about the Philippines is its history and how it came to be. Canada… is reaaaally different. I think I’ll try something else with Canada. Ah, relationships.
Oh and Valentine’s is coming up! That was quick.

I lied when I said I wasn’t going to have a resolution this year! I know, bad Eina! It just came up like a minute or so ago while I was browsing my Tumblr dashboard. Given that I’ve seen this quote a million times already, I mostly just ignored it:
“When you love someone say it. Say it loud. Say it right away, or the moment just passes you by and you may never get the chance again.People live, but people die.”

This is going to be my New Year’s resolution.
Here goes.. I LOVE ME, GOSH.
Haaa, kidding aside, I will now go send random text messages to my friends proclaiming my undying love for them. ![]()

I’ve been crazy-addicted to Love Lockdown by Kanye West, I have no clue why. I have listened to it for about two days straight almost non-stop. The pauses in this song-marathon were brought by friends who would spam me with links to songs over YouTube.
See, I do not like Kanye West, but he sings in this track, so I’m all good. What attracted me to the song were the lyrics. Over a month ago, a friend and I were having a conversation about how we chose songs. He told me I liked weird music, and I told him he liked generic music.
The weird music that I like go along the lines of: Lykke Li, The Pierces, The Hush Sound, Muse and songs you’d find over Mixwit and Mixshare@LJ. These are songs that aren’t played on the radio but some are played in primetime shows as soundtracks, like Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl had Time Is Running Out by Muse play in the instrumental version and I was caught off guard.
They’re not weird music, they’re music that he just doesn’t listen to. He tells me that because he’s a dancer, he prefers to listen to the beats and not the lyrics like I do. I said, fair enough, you have a point.
It’s interesting though that the songs I have are being played more on TV nowadays. I like it.
My preference of listening to the lyrics more instead of the beat actually hinders me from liking Asian music. The few ones that I like, I have read the subs more than once and liked them. Other than that, I don’t like listening to stuff that I can’t understand. Hmm.
So, are you more of a lyric person or are you one who listens to the beat first?
Aaaaand, my favourite part from Love Lockdown:
I’m not loving you, the way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
I’m in love with you, but the vibe is wrong
And that haunted me all the way home
So you never know. Never, never know
Never know enough
Til it’s over love
Til we lose control
System overload
Screamin no no no no no
